Reconnecting Public Space Along an Elevated Metro Corridor

São Paulo Metro Line 15 – Urban Regeneration and Landscaping

The development of São Paulo Metro Line 15 created an opportunity to rethink the central reservations beneath and around the elevated monorail infrastructure. The project focused on landscape and urban improvements along Avenida Professor Luiz Ignácio de Anhaia Melo and Avenida Sapopemba.

Quadrante coordinated and developed preliminary designs for landscaping, urban regeneration, a cycle route and adaptations to the road network. The scope extended approximately 10.6 km between Oratório and São Mateus stations, incorporating pedestrian paths and rest areas. Technical disciplines included road geometry, earthworks, paving, drainage, retaining structures, signage, lighting, safety and affected utilities.
