Connecting Utility-Scale Solar to the Texas Grid

PV Grimes 7V 210 MW – 138 kV Substation & Transmission Line

As utility-scale solar continues to expand across Texas, robust interconnection infrastructure is what turns new generation capacity into reliable power on the grid. For Naturgy, Quadrante Right Analytics supported the 210 MW PV Grimes solar project, contributing to the 138/34.5/13.8 kV substation and the 138 kV high-voltage overhead line that connect the plant to the ERCOT system.

The engineering support spanned the key stages of substation and line delivery: developing equipment specifications, supporting the procurement of the power transformers, reviewing design documentation and assisting with the ERCOT interconnection process. Working closely with Naturgy’s team, Quadrante helped ensure that major equipment and design solutions met the project’s technical requirements, grid standards and schedule.
