Converting Mountain Water Resources into Renewable Power

Paso–Colorado Small Hydropower Plant

The Paso–Colorado small hydropower project in Chile was designed around a high-head hydraulic system connecting the Colorado River intake area with a powerhouse located near the Blanco River.

The development comprised a dam, a hydraulic conveyance system and a powerhouse. The project services included preliminary studies, site reconnaissance, detailed design, tender documentation and specifications. The multidisciplinary scope covered hydraulic engineering, structures, mechanical and electrical/electromechanical equipment, geotechnics, operating and safety guidance, environmental and economic analysis, quantities and cost estimates.
