Finding the Right Location for Hyperscale Growth

Google Data Center Optimization

As hyperscale data center networks expand, selecting the right locations requires a detailed understanding of both site conditions and the capacity of the surrounding electrical infrastructure. For Google, the project assessed potential data center locations across multiple sites in the United States, supporting strategic expansion decisions with a focus on cost, reliability and power availability.

The study combined site selection analysis with electrical load assessment and infrastructure planning for hyperscale facilities. The scope included evaluating electrical infrastructure, assessing load hosting capacity and coordinating with utilities to understand the ability of potential locations to accommodate future data center demand. These analyses provided a technical basis for comparing sites and identifying infrastructure requirements associated with each location.
