Advancing a Strategic Road Corridor in Northern Romania

Dej–Bistrița High-Speed Road – Lot 2 Feasibility Study

The Dej–Bistrița section forms part of a wider programme to strengthen high-speed road connections across northern Romania. As Lot 2 of the Baia Mare–Bistrița corridor, the planned expressway will connect with other strategic investments in the national road network, helping accommodate growing transport demand while improving road safety and regional connectivity.

Preparing the new expressway for future implementation begins with a comprehensive assessment of its technical feasibility and integration with the surrounding road network. Quadrante is developing the Feasibility Study for the Dej–Bistrița section, establishing the basis for the new infrastructure and supporting the beneficiary both in the funding application and in the procurement procedure for the subsequent design and construction contracts.

Beyond creating a faster connection between Dej and Bistrița, the planned expressway will strengthen continuity between several strategic road investments, including connections towards Baia Mare, Cluj and the future high-speed route towards Suceava. It is also intended to function as a bypass for towns along the corridor, helping redirect through-traffic while supporting safer journeys and improved regional accessibility.
