Powering Portugal’s Next Chapter in Electric Mobility


CALB Lithium Giga Factory

Portugal’s first lithium-ion battery gigafactory is taking shape in Sines, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition towards electric mobility. Developed by CALB, the facility is planned to have an annual production capacity of 15 GWh, strengthening Sines’ role in the battery value chain.

Located in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone, the gigafactory is expected to produce the equivalent of approximately 187,000 electric vehicle batteries per year. Quadrante leads the design consortium, supporting the development of the project across environmental assessment and licensing, architecture, engineering and critical infrastructure.
