Strengthening Bucharest’s Connections to Europe’s Strategic Road Network

Bucharest North Ring Road – Lot 3

A key section of Bucharest’s future ring road is taking shape across Ilfov County, improving connections between the Romanian capital and the country’s wider motorway network. Lot 3 of the North Ring Road covers 8.6 km of new highway and is designed to strengthen continuity between major European transport corridors while improving access between Bucharest, the TEN-T network and surrounding national roads.

Across the 8.6 km section, Quadrante is responsible for the detailed technical design and the documentation required for construction authorisation. The engineering scope includes the highway itself, the DN2 road junction, seven overpasses, road reinstatement and reinforcement works, hydraulic infrastructure, environmental protection and traffic safety measures, as well as two parking areas. Major structures include a 335.95 m overpass across the DN2 and a 493.60 m railway overpass.

Completing this section will contribute to a more continuous and interconnected road network around Bucharest, linking major national routes with strategic European transport corridors. The project is intended to reinforce connections between Pan-European Corridors IV and IX, improve accessibility to the TEN-T network and provide better integration between Bucharest, the local road system and Romania’s motorway network.
