Connecting Two Major Motorway Corridors in Romania

Sebeș–Turda A10 Motorway – Lot 4

Strategic connectivity is at the heart of Lot 4 of Romania’s A10 Sebeș–Turda Motorway. Extending for 16.3 km between the Decea area and the A3 motorway near Turda, the section contributes to a wider 70 km corridor designed to connect Pan-European Corridor IV at Sebeș with the Transylvania Motorway, strengthening road links across north-western Romania.

Engineering a relatively short motorway section with a high concentration of structures required the coordination of road, structural and associated infrastructure design. Quadrante prepared the Technical Project for Lot 4, covering the motorway works and Turda junction, bridges, viaducts and overpasses, restoration of affected road connections, environmental protection and traffic safety works, two parking areas, and a coordination and maintenance centre. The completed section includes 17 motorway bridges, including two viaducts, together with 13 overpasses and underpasses.

With 30 bridge, viaduct, overpass and underpass structures concentrated within 16.3 km, Lot 4 presented a particularly structure-intensive motorway design challenge. Its completion established the northern end of the A10 connection towards the A3 Transylvania Motorway, contributing to the wider link between two major Romanian and European transport corridors and improving continuity across the national motorway network.
