Banco de Portugal’s Decarbonisation Programme

Banco de Portugal intends to contribute to the realisation of the Paris Agreement on climate change, namely by ensuring its activities are aligned with the maximum 1.5 ºC increase trajectory and with EU and Portugal carbon neutrality objectives.

To this end, Banco de Portugal has developed a strategy to decarbonise its activity, taking into account the objectives, strategies and Portuguese legislation with guidelines to reduce emissions in line with the Basic Climate Law.

Impact

Ecoprogresso, part of the Quadrante Group, supported Banco de Portugal throughout the process. After outlining the measures, the respective decarbonisation trajectory was drawn up, which will enable assessing emissions’ progression.
