Sustainable mobility serving large cities

Metro do Porto: Casa da Música – Santo Ovídio (Rubi Line)

Sustainable mobility is one of the main challenges faced by large cities. Public transport plays a crucial role in the daily life of metropolises, like Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

That is why the new Rubi Line will provide significant relief for road traffic and for the Yellow Line – the busiest of Metro do Porto -, connecting several landmarks in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia such as, Casa da Música, universities, shopping centres, hospitals, services, the Northern Railway Line and the future connection to the High-Speed Rail.

Rubi Line is an investment planned for the third phase of Metro’s network expansion, creating a new 6.4 km link that will connect the municipalities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Simultaneously, an underground car park with 500 spaces will be built at Rotunda Station. The connection between Casa da Música Station in Porto and Santo Ovídio Station in Vila Nova de Gaia will include a total of eight new stations: Casa da Música, Campo Alegre, Arrábida, Candal, Rotunda, Devesas, Soares dos Reis and Santo Ovídio.
