A New City, A New Era

Hassi Messaoud

The New City of Hassi Messaoud (VN) and its attached Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) aim to create a new urban development hub in the south-eastern Algerian region. This hub will cope with the increase in population resulting from the development of this area, which is the most important oil exploration location in Algeria.

The city and ZAL’s road network has a total length of 170 km. The entire area underwent earthmoving for the construction of the roads and the blocks to house 80,000 people.

The new city’s infrastructure projects have been carried out, including water collection for human consumption from deep boreholes and its treatment, reservation and distribution, along with the collection and treatment of wastewater and solid waste.
