META and QUADRANTE, both trailblazers in engineering critical infrastructures in Energy Transition, Mobility, and Sustainable Cities, are coming together under a shared vision to fulfill the UN’s Development Goals. This partnership isn’t just about bringing companies together; it’s about uniting our passion, vision, and expertise to make a lasting impact on the World.
QUADRANTE stands as the leading Portuguese engineering firm, steadily growing year after year. With each new capability, new client, and new challenge, Quadrante has become synonymous with sustainable growth, commitment and excellence. The “Moving Forward” initiative has enhanced our capacity to face global challenges and to position ourselves as a more influential force in the market.
META, with over 40 years of experience, is a name synonymous with profound expertise in engineering consultancy across Spain and Latin America. META’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship has made it a benchmark in sustainable mobility and renewable energy solutions.
Quadrante is taking a decisive step by welcoming META and IZHAIRIA (part of the META group) into its ranks, shaping a new Iberian champion—a multinational group of 1,100 employees. This alliance will place us firmly in the top 10 of Iberian companies and make us the number one engineering group when considering operations in Iberia.
But we’re not stopping there. Our goal is to become a global reference, with a significant footprint across Europe, the United States, Africa, and Latin America.
Here’s what is important: this is not about consolidation; it’s about growth and empowerment. Both companies will continue to operate independently, each maintaining its unique identity while drawing on the strength of a shared vision and resources. Importantly, there will be no layoffs. On the contrary, our group is growing. We aim to provide even greater opportunities for career development and international exposure, with plans to onboard an additional 900 people over the next four years.
This operation will double the size of our group, and by the end of 2024, we expect to surpass sales of 100 million euros. We’re in the final stages of this transformative step, which we anticipate to complete in October.
With a laser focus on Energy Transition, Positive Mobility, and Sustainable Cities, our new group will become a cornerstone in the evolution of critical infrastructures worldwide. This is more than a business operation; it’s about uniting capacities, geographies, talents, and backgrounds. It’s an opportunity that will benefit every single member of our team.
This operation marks a milestone in our industry. By combining and complementing the strengths of META and QUADRANTE within a single group, we are forming one of the top influential engineering and architecture groups in the Iberian Peninsula.

We believe there’s room for an Iberian champion with important settings in Portugal and Spain and aiming to shape the infrastructure transformation needed to comply with the UN Sustainability Goals. By increasing the dimension of the Group we can leverage our wider competences and geographical presence to reinforce our presence in the US and Europe.
As a Group we aim to focus on Energy, Mobility and Sustainable Cities and grow the company both organically and with acquisitions reaching about 2000 people in 2028.
Meta, Izhairia and Quadrante lack the strenght and dimension to be present in the most sophisticated and bigger markets for critical Infrastructure. Our companies live in a cyclical context depending on investment cycles. By widening our presence and aiming for more stable markets, we increase the resilience of the companies while being able to deliver bigger Projects.
At Meta level we intend to increase its profitability significantly to reinforce its financial strenght.
Quadrante and Meta will continue to be independent companies, which will operate with autonomy, but in a coordinated way. Both companies will form a Group which will bring additional resources and opportunities.
We do not intend to change the names of the companies because the brand value is strong for both. But as you know, the brand Meta is under litigation with Meta from US, meaning that we cannot forsee the outcome of this litigation yet.
We will though work togethet to find a common holding Company brand that will be part of the signature of the Group’s companies.
At Meta and Izharia level the present management teams will keep their roles. There wiil be though an holding company owning both Quadrante and Meta whose management will include members from both companies. The CEO of the holding company will be Nuno Costa, and Enric will be part of the holding’s managment team. Isabel will also be leading the Energy Business Sector at Group’s level.
At the level of both Meta Group and Quadrante Group, no changes will occur.
There is no merger between companies. They will be independent and the coordination between the companies will be made at the Holding level. This means that there’s no need to restructure the roles and responsibilities except in the case of Enric and Isabel, for now. Both Enric and Isabel will have roles at the Group’s level. It is expected that some key people will follow on this global roles.
No layoffs are planned. On the contrary, we believe we will need more people joining us due to the ambition of our growth strategy.
Since both companies will act independently, there are no overlapping functions.
No. All the odffices will remain as presently. We hope to open new offices or expand the existing ones in the future.
As referred, this is not a merger operation. We will have the two groups Meta and Quadrante under an holding company. However, to maximize the value of the companies Quadrante, Meta and Izhairia, we will need to explore cross-selling, pursue big opportunites together and coordinate our efforts at international level.
This operation will not cause any change in salary conditions. However, with this operation we want the companies to be more profitable, be in more sophisticated markets and therefore be able to offer better salary conditions than our competitors.
Current employment contracts remain unchanged as there are no changes.
We will pursue to achieve revenue synergies – meaning increasing both companies revenues by having a common growth strategy.
Management support services will be independent. With future acquisitions, it’s expected tto have some common support services at holding level, but they do not overlapp with the companies’ ones.
We think this operation brings and increadible opportunities for our People. We will be able to offer international carrer opportunities and we will develop an exchange program between companies.
The official intragroup language will be the English, despite the fact that within each company we can use each country’s language.
